Few people seem to truly enjoy supermarket shopping. While it is far from my favorite past-time, I do not dread it either. I worked in a supermarket for a couple of summers in college. It was a very enlightening experience and one that taught me some tricks of the trade that have proven helpful during my weekly shopping trips.
I am including a link to an article on realsimple.com that I think will be helpful to many people. I encourage those of you who find supermarket shopping to be the most horrendous and annoying experience of your life, to learn the ins and outs of your neighborhood supermarket.
Simple things like learning which days the delivery trucks deliver to the store can help you to buy fresher fruit and produce; instead of picking through the beat up looking stuff that is leftover after all the fresh product is gone.
Learning how to read upc’s and sale tags will help you to buy the right amount/size/brand of product you need.
For those of you like myself who purchase a lot of organic products, researching “organic” brands before you get to the store will save you a lot of time while you are shopping. All organic brands are not made equal and trying to decipher all the different brands and categories of food while shopping can waste time and cause aggravation.
Know what you want before you get to the store. Make a list people! Lists are your friend.
Happy shopping!
