Going to the movies is a lot of fun, but between rising ticket costs and noisy movie-goers, the theater isn’t always the ideal place to see a film. Sure you’ve got the huge screen and super-greasy (a.k.a yummy) popcorn, but where can you see a film in comfort and also enjoy the perks of the theater? Answer: The drive-in!
Seeing a movie from the comfort of your own car, or outside sitting in front of/on top of your own car is pretty awesome. You still get to enjoy seeing a film on the big screen and the yummy popcorn, but you also gain some privacy and you can usually bring your own snacks as well (depending on drive-in rules). Another perk –you don’t have to worry about ringing cell phones, or crying kids sitting next to you.
Obviously the drive-in season is usually confined to summer months due to weather, so if you have never seen a film at a drive-in make sure to put it on your summer to-do list. Drive-ins are kid friendly and almost always cheaper than your mall movie theater.
If you are up for it stay for the double feature.
Here are a couple of sites to help you find drive-ins in your area:
