I enjoy dancing, in fact I enjoy it very much. And ever since I decided to take formal dancing lessons I enjoy it even more since I feel like I sorta know what I am doing.
But why are so many people (most people) so embarassed to dance in public? I know more people who hate to dance than I know people who like to dance (excluding the people I know from ballroom dancing lessons of course!). Are we really that afraid of looking dumb? Yea I think we are.
A really good dancer gives off a confident, sexy, fun vibe. A really bad dancer, well you don’t need me to describe it for you, you already know. But being an OK, not too bad, sorta bad, or really bad dancer is no reason to sit on the sidelines while everyone else is up there shaking their money maker. Get up there! So what if you look like you are dancing to a completely different song, or like you are not so much dancing but kinda flopping around. Dancing is supposed to be fun. It doesn’t discriminate. The music won’t be mad if you aren’t following the beat.
Dancing is about expressing yourself and having fun. Don’t let your anxiety get the better of you. So what if you look silly? Chances are you probably look a lot better than you think you do. And trust me, no matter how bad you think you are, you are not the worst, I promise.
