Like any red blooded American I love to win stuff, the more free stuff the better!
I love the susprise of going to a website and finding out they have a promotion going on where I can win a tv/new clothes/cash/trip to Fiji/new Birkin bag, you get the idea. Right now both Old Navy and Bluefly have contests where you can win cool prizes. Does it get any better than free prizes? I don’t think so!
Of course you have to be careful which sweepstakes you enter. Some require you to join their club/become a member which can mean unwanted phone calls and mountains of junk mail. Most just want your email address which may mean unwanted junk emails.
In this day and age of mega millions and huge jackpots their is something slightly addictive about sweepstakes. That moment where you think - What would it be like to win that shopping spree or new Burberry perfume?! I think it is mostly the thrill of the chase that gets us. In most cases, the odds of winning are not anywhere near in your favor. But the idea of winning, winning anything, is pretty intoxicating.
How many people out there have ever won a really big prize? I don’t mean a free t-shirt or free pair of keds, I am talking about a serious prize. Probably not many of you. I know plently of people who have won a few hundred dollars in a lottery drawing but I have yet to meet anyone who has won $1 million +.
The draw is that someone has got to win, so why can’t it be me?! As my father would say, “You gotta be in it to win it!” Right you are dad! So for the time being I will continue to waste 10 minutes a day going to websites looking for free stuff. With any luck I just might score some cool loot.
