Being that I am allergic to down I figured I would never know the kind of comfort that having a featherbed (and the coordinating feather accessories) could bring a person.
Thank the universe for synthetic down! I was a lil skeptical at first but my husband convinced me that it was safe and worth a shot. The poor guy has had to live without down blankets and down jackets for years. So we decided to go for it, feather top, comforter, pillows, etc. I am not sure there are adequate words in the English language to describe how fabulous my sleeping experience has become. For someone like me who is a restless sleeper, comfort is key. And it does not get more comfortable than synthetic down. Well maybe except for real down, but I will never know!
Not only does it keep you warm, but not too warm, it is like sleeping in fluffy perfectness! The pillows are a tad to squishy for my taste so I have to use one regular with one down to avoid feeling like my head has been swallowed by a non-sticky marshmellow while I sleep. Even my cat is enjoying it!
Down as well as synthetic down can be quite pricey so look for sales (like we did). Most down products come in white only so be mindful of that as well. But you can certainly buy a duvet cover to go over the white comforter to protect it.
I know that having a comfortable bedroom (cozy, free of distractions, etc) is the key to getting a good nights rest. I am sleeping better now than I have in years. Thank you scientists for making fake feathers! Woot, synthetic down rules!
