According to Peta the NBA has recently decided to stop using leather basket balls and make the switch to synthetic ones. Cows everywhere are celebrating, Woot! Peta is even giving one lucky reader 2 tickets to an NBA game of their choose as well as a synthetic basketball to celebrate!

I never knew how many cows were slaughtered just to make NBA basketballs, pretty shocking. Very glad to hear the synthetic ones are already in circulation. When you think about how many animals die each year just to be used for basketballs, disection in classrooms, laboratory testing and other avoidable things, it is mindblowing. Glad to see that the NBA is moving in a cruelty-free direction. Hopefully other organizations will follow suit.
