Somedays I think – Money is stupid, bring back the barter system! I think this is probably because I have been watching this wild show where they follow around these tribes who live in straw huts and run around naked. Seriously, it sucks you in like a soap opera. Thank goodness for translators so we can understand when one tribe member is jealous because his neighbor has more pigs than he does. Or why one woman is jealous because another woman’s husband is ranked higher in the tribe than her husband. One thing missing: money. You need a basket? Someone makes you a basket and maybe you bring them some turnips. You need a job? Someone gives you a job and pays you in sandals made of wood or something.

Some days I think it would be easier to live by the barter system. Of course I don’t know how I would have paid for this laptop using the barter system. Hmmm? Made someone dinner for 3 years? Who knows. But sometimes I feel like money causes more problems than it solves. And then there are the days I use my debit card at MACY’s and have a grand ol time!

Can’t really win I guess. There is no way I would give up my life to live in the wilderness with the aforementioned tribe so I guess the barter system isn’t going to work for me. In the end, I really do like money, as much as I hate to admit it. However if someone taught me to make a wicked looking basket maybe I would feel more confident in my bartering skills.
