When people are miserable with their jobs…

To be honest, I have not liked every job I have held. Some I thought were OK, some stunk at times, and some were pretty horrid. I would like to think that when faced with the community (client meetings, etc) I did a good job of hiding my dismay (when there was dismay to be hidden).

It always feels a little bit strange to encounter someone who is truly miserable with their job and is not afraid to show it to the world. The most commonly found miserable employee….food workers. I recently went to one of my fav establishments - not a fast food place - and encountered a young lady looking so sullen and pissed off I almost felt compelled to ask if someone have run over her dog or some other such atrocity had happened just before her shift. I kept wondering what could be peeving her this badly that she couldn’t even fake a smile for the customers? None of my business obviously and who knows. Anyways, it is always interesting to me when someone doesn’t even attempt to hide their crapo mood. Do you want me to ask what’s wrong? Do you want your boss to send you home early? What?!

I have always prided myself on my fake smile ability. But my recent encounter with crappy pants employee has made me wonder about my own abilities to hide my crapo mood. Do I give people the pissed off face without realizing it?! E-gads, I hope not. There is nothing worse than being waited on by a crapo mood person who you think might just be in a bad enough mood to spit on your food or take their mood out on you in some other way.

I am going to practice my fake smile in the mirror just to make sure it hasn’t lost any of its luster, gotta go! :-)
