Watch a holiday movie, cheesy or otherwise. Trust me, it will do the trick, even if only for one night.
The other night I feel asleep watching It’s a Wonderful Life. Obviously this was not my first glimpse of the film, and I knew a happy ending was awaiting me. Even still, the last 5 minutes of the film brought me a renewed sense of joy about the holidays. Yes Zuzu, every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings!
I also recently saw The Holiday with Jude Law and Kate Winslet, amoung others. It was the perfect holiday movie, somewhat sad, somewhat happy, a good amount of sap thrown in, a moderately predictable ending but a ton of holiday cheer and hope for the year ahead. Good looking actors, amazing scenary, clothes to die for and a plot line that made you feel good about the future for these characters when you walked out of the film. Exactly what I needed at this stressful time of year.
A Christmas Story is always a safe bet, especially if you grew up in the 50’s or 60’s. And National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation will definitely make you crack up and forget your troubles for a solid hour or so. Whatever your style, check out a holiday movie or two to get you in the spririt.
