There is a rap song called The Chicken Noodle Soup song. No, I am not kidding. I heard it for the first time recently and it even has a dance that goes with it! Here are a sampling of the lyrics:
“I let it rain, I clear it out. I let it rain, I clear it out…” and “Chicken noodle soup, chicken noodle soup, chicken noodle soup with a soda on the side.”
Here is a blurb about the song from Wikipedia:
The Chicken Noodle Soup is a dance that inspired the hip-hop club hit “Chicken Noodle Soup” perfomed by DJ Webstar, Young B, and The Voice Of Harlem, currently the song has peaked at #45 on the Billboard Hot 100 trajectory and was released in Summer 2006. Originating in Harlem, the dance has been embraced as a new symbol of the local scene that distinguishes New York from other regions whose urban musical subgenres have captured national attention in recent years.
Apparently there are a ton of videos on YouTube of people doing this dance. I know the electric slide was cheesy, but come on people!
Did all these tough guy rappers run out of lyrics and have to start singing about what they want to have for lunch? It sorta makes me feel old and out of touch not to understand this song/dance craze. I think I would rather buy Kevin Federline’s album this listen to more songs about lunch meat and soda pop.
