I am not sure what I did with my digital pics before Picassa. I must have blacked out the disorganized mess that came before all the fabulous folders and labels and export functions. Ah yes, Picassa is terrific. Don’t know what the heck I am talking about? Here is a definition courtesy of Google: “Picasa is a free software download from Google that helps you: Locate and organize all the photos on your computer. Edit and add effects to your photos with a few simple clicks. Share your photos with others through email, prints, and on the web: it’s fast, easy and free.”

Indeed it is fast, easy and best of all free. You can catalog your photos by event and year, you can sort them using keywords and dates and you can also email them right from Picassa. It really has changed the way I feel about taking and sending digital pics. It is convenient and pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it.

It is funny how when something like this comes along you actually have trouble remembering how you got by without it! Sort of like the cell phone. As a kid we had one phone line, no voicemail, no call waiting, no computer, no video games, and for a while no cable. Seriously, what did we do? Well I acutally played outside with my friends, which I know is a foreign concept to most young children growing up right now. I see elementary school children in the mall with cell phones, who I am sure have access to a computer and possibly a friendster profile! What did kids do before that stuff? They played outside and got some fresh air. What did I do before Picassa, or even before the digital camera? I used a 35mm and waited until I had taken enough pictures to finish my roll before taking the film to CVS because they gave you free doubles! Then when you didn’t need the free doubles you were stuck with 40+ pictures that you either put in an album or stashed in a drawer. Ah, the good ol days!
