Spam is a funny thing. Usually spam is obvious from the first glance, but sometimes it is so crafty it looks like a real email. The good spamers will make semi-normal sounding email addresses from which to send the spam garbage and pull part of your email address to use as the subject — for example if your email is joe@blank.com the subject would be “long time no talk Joe!”. Joe might think, oh a long lost friend trying to get back in touch. Then when the spam email is opened, nope it’s not a long lost friend it’s some idiot pretending to have naked pictures of Jennifer Aniston asking you to give him 5,000,000,000 to free his uncle from prison. Dang spam.
I want to know whose job it is to come up with the spam ideas. Is it just computer generated or does some pissed off kid sit there all day and night coming up with these crazy ideas for how to annoy people and flood their inbox? If there is a guy doing it, that is one strange fella!
Some of my favorite spams include the ones that offer you up to $12,000 per day to make calls overseas or re-mail envelopes they mail you. The ones that appear to be from actual celebrities are kind of amusing as well. I have to say I am very sick of the ones pretending to be from a homeowners insurance company. Come on those are just boring, at least entertain me while you are annoying me!
What are your favorite or least favorite spam emails?
