Last night was the finale of this season’s Bachelor on ABC. I didn’t even watch this season but I did tune in for a bit last night and it was easy to see who he would pick….his new fiance Tessa. I have watched this show in the past, even had a pool with co-workers over who would get sent home when. There have been about 10 seasons of the Bachelor and 3 of the Bachelorette and despite many promises and engagements only one couple has actually married, or even stayed together for any serious amount of time, Trista and Ryan.

Why do these people even bother? The odds are against them. None of their predecessors have found happily ever after, except for Trista and Ryan, so why do they keep proposing just to break up a few months later?

Some of the contestants have skipped the proposal and tried dating for a while, that usually doesn’t work either. Is it possible to meet your true love on a reality dating show? Doubtful. Although Trista and Ryan are the exception to the rule so there must be hope right?

I hope that ABC can at least spice up the show a bit. 20 some odd beauty pageant wannabes crying and scheming to win the heart of some guy they barely know but hope is rich is stale. At least up the stakes a little!

At any rate congrats are in order for the newly engaged couple. Let’s hope you can follow in the footsteps of Trista and Ryan!
