Can live without TV huh?

So the recent tee-poll has been eye opening for me. The majority of people who answered picked their TV for the thing they could live without. Only one vote (so far) for giving up the computer (that wasn’t me, I would be pretty lost!)

I realize how much technology - things like TV and the computer - plays a role in my daily life. That is what inspired the poll. I was thinking about the things on the list and how without any of them I would be pretty peeved in the long run.

I know I could go without TV the longest if I had to, followed by my phone and lastly the computer. But I don’t really want to give up any of those things. And I assume most people feel the same. Even if I go days without turning on the TV I like knowing it is at my disposal if and when I decide to turn it on.

I can imagine a poll like this 40 years ago…Which of these things can you live without?: The color TV, the microwave oven, nonstick pans or Mr. Potato Head?

In this case…totally the microwave oven, however Mr. Potato Head is a brilliant invention.

Also can’t live without…my hair dryer and air conditioning.

Boy this post is making me sound like a priss, you wouldn’t believe my love for camping. But for a weekend in VT I can give up all of these luxuries because they are replaced by better things like a firepit and a tent. :-)

I wonder if you’re giving yourself enough credit. I’m sure you can live without most things, except food and water. In the very short term, like the first few days after having your computer taken away, it would be anguish. But you’d still be LIVING right? Of course you would.

You are right Dan I would be able to do it. But I would be pretty annoyed for the first few days/weeks :)

I’ve being trying to get rid of Mr. Potato Head for years now. Somehow we always end up together again.

Mr. Potato head is alive and well in our crafts closet!

I think your point is that we know we could give up anything (a la camping), but it’s nice to have the choice of whether we want to or not.
