Baba Louie’s

This restaurant referral is really only helpful for my peeps in Massachusetts and New York - especially my wheat-free peeps! Baba Louie’s currently has two locations, Hudson, NY and Great Barrington, MA. I have only eaten at the Great Barrington location but I would imagine Hudson’s is just as good.

They have the best wheat-free spelt pizza I have ever had. (They are one of the only establishments I have found that offers a wide variety of wheat-free items.) And while they are known for their organic wood fired pizza, they also have an extensive list of paninis, vegetarian soups and salads. They even serve beer and wine for you non-teetotalers. Basically, the place rocks.

It would be a tricky place to go with a large group as it is a small establishment with a bunch of smaller tables very close together, but for 2-4 people it is just fine. On a recent trip, I ordered a small spelt Pomodoro Bianco pizza - roasted portobellos, roasted garlic (and lots of it!), tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, red onions, chevre, pesto and parmesan. As Rachael Ray would say, Yum-o!!! I am getting hungry just thinking about it!

If you want to split a pizza I would suggest a large (6 pieces), unless you are also splitting another item as well then a small (4 pieces) should be just fine. I have not tried their paninis yet but the consensus was that they were just as terrific as the pizzas. I look forward to checking out the Hudson location and exploring their menu further.

If you find yourself in Great Barrington or Hudson this summer check out Baba Louie’s.

Can I get it with a side of wheat?

How about a sourdough crust instead? :)
