Bring back American Dreams!

With the start of the new fall season there comes a slew of new shows, many of which won’t be around come sweeps. It makes me think about some of my favorite television shows and the ones I wish had stayed on longer, namely American Dreams. The show followed a Philadelphia family during the 1960’s, exploring the impact of the Vietnam War and the incredible music of the time. It was one of those shows that transported you to another time. For one hour, you truly felt like you knew what it was like to be alive during the 60’s. (Of course, I wasn’t actually alive in the 60’s so my opinion could be a bit scewed.)

I love a show that creates a sense of nostalgia, a longing for another time that sticks with you long after the screen has gone dark. You think about the fate of the characters and wonder what you would do when faced with the same choices.

The show was cancelled somewhat abruptly and plans for the 4th and unaired season were eventually revealed. Like the other 3 seasones, I am sure it would have been a season that would illustrate both the frustration and wild hope of that generation.

I miss you American Dreams! I would trade Beauty and the Geek or I love New York 2 to have you back…as well as about 50 other crapola shows that are on right now.

I’m sorry. I’m afraid this is my fault. The networks have a device on my TV and when I like a show, they cancel it.

hehe I feel the same way Jan!
