A couple of weeks ago my church was robbed. There was not much damage done but cash and checks were taken. There was an announcement made at the end of mass to let us know what had happened. So far no one has been arrested, as far as I know. I immediately said a prayer that the person responsible for this would be caught and held accountable. I assume the rest of the congregation did the same thing either immediately after hearing of the robbery or shortly afterwards.
Then I started thinking, wow, imagine if you did something wrong and thousands of people prayed for you to get caught. Not good odds or good karma! I am disturbed by the robbery not only because it was my church but because it was a church at all. Churches provides countless services to the community, whether it be hosting food and clothing drives or other charity work. If you needed a hot meal or a winter coat you could reach out to the church and they would help you. So why steal from them? Why not ask for help? Obviously, it is possible that whoever did this was not in need of help but just wanted to steal.
I have a feeling that all of our prayers are going to be answered and the person or people responsible will be found. In the meantime, I will keep praying.
