We are really starting to settle into our new house. We have done a lot of work to it so far, but boy do we have a long way to go! At times it seems overwhelming but we are trying to pace ourselves as best we can.
I knew when we bought this house that there might be a surprise or two, as it is an older house. Knock on wood we have been pretty lucky but a few interesting things have popped up here and there. There is a rather important pipe that has been giving us a bit of trouble. The plumber has been here and worked his magic and all is well…for now. But when a plumber looks at you and says “Boy I have never seen that used, or, Wow! I cannot believe they did it like THIS!” - you start to feel a bit nervous. We definitely have some more plumbing work in our future but for now everything is pretty functional.
FYI - If a previous owner did some crazy, code violating plumbing work, do not be in the basement when the plumber starts to saw those pipes apart. Strange things lurk in pipes….strange things!

Our house was built in the 50’s. I can’t tell you how many younger plumbers have acted like they were getting a history lesson when they come here. I always ask them to send the oldest guy they have.

LOL!! I hope no dead bodies (well, human ones) fell out of those pipes!

No Dan but all sorts of nasty things were hanging out in there!
Jan - it is starting to amuse me, some of the reactions we are getting to the older parts of the house.
