Those of us who celebrate Christmas are used to receiving gifts every year. Some from family, some from friends and co-workers and perhaps some unexpected gifts as well. This year I received two very thoughtful, beautiful, unexpected gifts - one from a neighbor and one from a client. I was not expecting anything from either person so it was a very pleasant surprise to receive a knock on my door, followed a day later by a UPS truck at my door. While the gifts themselves were quite exquisite it was the effort behind them that really moved me. Our new neighbor, who we are just getting to know, put together an incredible basket to welcome us to the neighborhood. The sentiment behind it makes it one of the nicest gifts I have received.

Not to lessen the value of the many thoughful gifts I receive from family each year, but these unexpected gifts are truly special. Someone who you didn’t realize was thinking of you, put the time and effort in to let you know you are in their thoughts this Christmas. What a lovely gift to receive.
