In Christinaity, and other religions, patience is often described as a virtue. It seems that lately, the universe has been trying to test my patience, and while I am pretty adept at looking cool, I am not always as good at keeping cool.
Patience is described in the dictionary as:
Main Entry: 1pa·tient
Pronunciation: \ˈpā-shənt\
Function: adjective
Etymology: Middle English pacient, from Anglo-French, from Latin patient-, patiens, from present participle of pati to suffer; perhaps akin to Greek pēma suffering
Date: 14th century
1: bearing pains or trials calmly or without complaint
2: manifesting forbearance under provocation or strain
3: not hasty or impetuous
4: steadfast despite opposition, difficulty, or adversity
5 a: able or willing to bear
I think my favorate part of the definition is #4 - steadfast despite opposition, difficulty, or adversity. Doesn’t it seem like some days a large group of people have been handed a note that says, ‘Do your best to make this person (lately me) feel as much opposition as possible!’ I would ask the universe nicely to cut the crap so to speak but I don’t think it will do any good. So I will make more of an effort to practice the art of being patient. And if you received one of those notes from the universe, do me a favor and tear it up, OK?

I have to go with #3. It’s been a long, long winter here in the Heart of America. Those pesky weathercasters are threatening even more this coming weekend. Can you believe that? Ugh! This past weekend was quite nice, though.

I knew we were in for it when spring started off so lovely…I guess we should be thankful on behalf of our gardens
