So as I am turning 29 this weekend (woot!) I had to renew my license. Yes, I am finally old enough to renew my license! A very big milestone if you ask me. Anyway…I received a letter in the mail from the DMV with instructions on how to renew my license by mail, fill out a form, take this form to your eye Dr., and include a check. Simple right? Wrong! So apparently 3-4 weeks lead time is not enough time for them to mail me a new one.
When I didn’t receive the new one in the mail this week I called to check on it. Oh they got my form and my check all right, it arrived weeks ago, but they won’t be mailing me my new license for a few weeks, just because. So today I have to go down to the god for saken DMV office and get a temporary license so I can drive legally until the new one arrives. The DMV is what I imagine hell to be like - rude/uninformed people, endless waiting in line, broken air conditioning units, etc, etc. No offense to those who work in the DMV but the one I go to, holy lord, it is a horrendous place!
Wish me luck…I hope I make it back without flipping somebody off. Who I am kidding, I don’t flip people off, the most I would do is give them a snotty look and then fill out one of those online surveys and mark less than satisfactory. Sigh….off I go to DMV hell.
UPDATE: I am back, and I made it. I can’t believe I forgot to mention this earlier…remember the movie Beetle Juice? The part where Alec Balwin and Geena Davis follow the instructions in the Handbook for the Recently Deceased and go through the brick wall in the attic to who knows where and try to meet with the death counselor of sorts? They end up in an office just like the DMV. More proof that the DMV was modeled after hell! ![]()
