I have a confession to make, I am not really a summer person. Don’t get me wrong, I love to sit outside on my deck and grill my dinner, I love to see my garden flourishing and go for bike rides on cool nights, but in general I am a fall person through and through. At this point in the summer, once I am thoroughly sick of the humidity, I start to day dream about the leaves changing, about being able to comfortably wear jeans again and IĀ imagine eating cider donuts and other yummy fall treats. Ah yes, fall is my favorite time of year.
The transition from summer to fall is especially magical. Suddenly those 90 degree days turn to 70 degree days, the air starts to smell a little sweeter and the trees turn into a symphony of color. The first day that it is cool enough to warrant a light coat is one of my favorites. The only thing I don’t like about fall is that it leads into winter! That is one transition that is a bit harder to handle. Oh the first snow fallĀ is always glorious but living on the east coast the snow gets old after the 2oth snow fall of the year. This year I will try to relish those first few fall days and hold on to the memory of them throughout what will be a long winter I am sure. In the meantime, I will also enjoy this last month of summer, the BBQs and the fireflies and all that comes with it.

I wish it could be summer all year round. I find fall with everything dying to be depressing. I’m really a spring person, I guess.

Look at it this way Jan, if all the leaves didn’t die in the fall then the new ones wouldn’t be able to blossom in the spring
spring is a close second for me, all the beautiful lilacs!
