My arms are getting tired from constantly pumping my fists in the air while watching team USA kick major butt these past few days. So far this year, I have watched more events during this year’s summer games than I ever have before. Perhaps it is partly due to the Michael Phelps hype, or the fact that my husband has been particularly interested in watching this year, whatever it is, I am glad I have been able to catch some of the amazing wins by team USA so far.
Oh sure I always loved watching the gymnastics portion, but the rest of it I could take or leave. Now I find myself glued to the television watching the swimming and diving competitions. The commercial they have been running during the games non-stop, the one that has Morgan Freeman doing the voiceover about why we get so excited seeing other people compete in this type of arena, sums it up pretty nicely. If they can do this then I can do much more than I think I can. Every time a member of team USA stands on that podium to collect a medal I am moved, proud, hopeful. Whatever else might be going on in our country at the moment, or with our troops in other parts of the world, for a moment we all get to share in their incredible triumph. A lifetime of working towards being the ultimate at one thing and the realization that they are in fact the best in the world at what they do.
We are rooting for you, praying for you, cheering for you and wishing you luck team USA! Gold medals or not, you make us incredibly proud.

Haven’t watched a whole lot this time around. I’ve been super tired. Went to the doctor about it this morning and found that I have a bad fungus going on inside my mouth, of all things.
I watched a little, though, so I am proud with you.
