About a month ago I wrote about my first day on the set of Taking Woodstock as an extra. Since then they have called me several times to come back and film more scenes and I have been able to accept two more times. The most recent being yesterday, where I got to spend my evening dancing like a wild hippie in a bar scene with some of the main characters. For most of the night I was dancing in the back of the room near the band that was playing so you probably won’t see me during that scene. However I was pulled out of the group with 7 other people for some close up shots of people dancing and listening to the band. We were handed a wine bottle (filled with grape juice) and a fake joint, given some dance instructions by the choreographer and told to go to town. I am hoping that scene makes it into the final film because I think it would be a hoot to see!
I have said it before and I will say it again, the whole experience has been a magical one. It is hard to put into words, or even really recap, something so spectacular. It’s like trying to describe a beautiful sunrise to someone who will never seen one…you sort of have to be there. I will say this - movie making is not a glamorous event, it is long, often extremely cold or extremely hot, includes an incredible amount of sitting and waiting (8 hours or so of waiting yesterday) and can be just generally grueling. However, I also found it to be incredibly worthwhile and joyful and will cherish this experience always.
