While I like to start my Christmas shopping early, as evidenced by my recent posts, I don’t like to have Christmas shoved down my throat 2 months in advance. Case in point: all of the stores, shopping centers and malls have been decorated for Christmas for weeks now. The wreaths and snowflakes are out in full force. It isn’t even Thanksgiving yet! Can’t we still focus on pumpkins and cornucopias for one more week!?
While I do enjoy the Christmas sparkle and even the music, I think it is a little silly to be jumping right into the Christmas spirit in mid-October. It takes a bit away from the other holidays that come before it. It is a losing battle in my own home however as I am married to a man who loves all things Christmas and would play Jingle BellsĀ on a loop and have a tree up all year long if I let him.
Please retailers, let us enjoy our Thankgiving without hearing White Christmas when we walk into a store to buy cranberry sauce. Give us until December 1st and then you can bombard us with Christmas all you want!

That is exactly my pet peeve to. I have a limited tolerance for Christmas music and starting before Thanksgiving exceeds it. Here, here.

The other day I was in a store with Muzak in the front and the dreary canned Christmas music in the back. I just walked out.
