This weekend I ventured into Toys R Us looking for a couple of Christmas gifts. They were out of what I had in mind so I started browsing. Wandering around a toy store is a very bad idea. For one there are lots and lots of crying and screaming children and frustrated parents blocking most of the aisles. For another thing, once you take your second lap around the store everything starts to look the same. The sea of pink dolls and green and red dinosaurs and trucks all start to blend together. I am happy to say I made it out of there in roughly 35 minutes which was definitely 20 minutes longer than I had planned. But alas, there is no escaping the long lines (mostly run by cashiers in training).
I thought since it was still a full week before Black Friday that I might luck out and hit the store at a decent time. I was very wrong. It mine as well have been Black Friday because the store, and the roads and parking lot, were packed to the gills. This is why I avoid shopping on Black Friday and the day after Christmas (for the most part), because I hate having to brush past huge crowds of people while sweating like a maniac. Seriously, do they crank up the heat to 100 or what?!
I thought I still had an early lead on some of the other shoppers but I guess I was mistaken. Every one is on to me! I guess I will have to do some more online shopping. ![]()
