Today I am especially grateful to be one of the few homes in the area that still has (and never lost) power. There were hundreds of thousands of homes without power this weekend in NY state due to a nasty snow/ice storm. Rarely have I seen so many trees completely uprooted and branches covering almost every street.

Many of those homes and businesses are still without power and some of our friends are still staying with family or at hotels until they can safely return home. An upstate winter is not a great time to be without power so remaining home and waiting it out was not an option for most.

We all said a prayer in church yesterday for those without power and I want to send out another prayer today not only for those still without power but for those working diligently to restore it. They must be exhausted and frustrated by now after 4 days of working around the clock to get the power back up. Here is hoping that all those without power and all those working to fix the problem can all go home tonight to a warm home.
