I often hear people say that they try to learn something new every day. Sounds a bit exhausting but also sounds like a great challenge.
When I was in elementary school I was really into reading biographies and autobiographies, Mark Twain, Helen Keller, etc. I remember reading about Helen Keller and in the back of the book was the sign language alphabet. I photocopied the page and practiced until I could remember each letter. I was thinking about that the other day and realized I still remembered more than half of the alphabet. So I decided that I would re-learn the entire thing. I have a print out of the illustrations of each letter on a board next to my computer. It will take me a few days to learn the ones I have long forgotten but it gives me something to keep my brain busy with (besides work!) when I am sitting at my desk.
It may not be a new skill every single day, but at least for this week it is something worthwhile to learn and practice.

I keep my mind active. I send my brain out to get the groceries and mow the lawn. Stuff like that…

I hope your brain gets an allowance for all that hard work!
