For those of you that have trouble getting up in the morning, may I suggest a living alarm clock. While a dog is generally a good choice, I highly recommend a cat for the following reasons:
- Unlike a dog that will usually only wake you up if they need to go to the bathroom, a cat will wake you up for no reason at all hours before your alarm clock is scheduled to go off.
- If the incessant meowing/howling doesn’t do the trick, cats have many other effective strategies they can use to get you out of bed. Once they realize the meowing isn’t working they will move on to other things like scratching the furniture in the room you are sleeping in; knocking over lamps in another room so it sounds like someone has just broken in; opening your closet door and rifling through your clothes while purring loudly; knocking over their food and/or water dish; running as fast as they can from one end of your house/apt to the other over and over again - this part usually includes meowing and or howling as well.
All in all a live alarm clock is much more effective than a regular alarm clock because you cannot turn it off or unplug it. Any attempts to stop the live alarm clock usually only serve to aggravate it further. The only technique that is safe to employ is usually the roll over and pretend you don’t hear anything tactic - this will only work about 20% of the time however. If all else fails you may be able to bribe the live alarm clock with extra food and/or treats - this only works about 10% of the time though.
