Cereal is an easy and quick breakfast option, however finding a “healthy” cereal is not always easy. If you read the ingredients on most cereal boxes you will be blown away by the additives that are included. There are dozens and dozens of ingredients in even the most basic looking cereals.
While I have tried, and enjoyed, many of the organic brands I have found some of them to be very expensive and oftentimes blander than their less healthy counterparts. I was pleasantly surprised recently to come across the new Newman’s Own line of cereals. So far I have tried the Honey Nut Os and I have a box of the Flakes N Strawberries in the pantry ready to be taste tested. The Honey Nut Os rival the taste of Honey Nut Cherrios and are less expensive than some of the other all natural brands.
Most of the supermarkets in my area have the Newman’s cereal stocked in the regular cereal aisle but I wouldn’t be surprised to see it also in the organic section - if your market has one. As far as cereals go I would give the Newman’s Own brand two thumbs up so far. Looking forward to trying the other varieties and seeing how they stack up against the mainstream brands.

Thanks for the tip on the cereal. I quit eating it after reading ingredients on the boxes and I miss it.

You are clearly after my own heart. A few years ago, I found a local organic shop that makes and sells their own version of Cheerios. The difference in flavor is so vast, and it’s so nice to not have a list of ingredients longer than I am tall. I wish that food companies as a whole would revert to making more natural foods from wholesome ingredients.
Except chocolate. I still want my chocolate to be deliciously bad for me.

Sarah - I agree about the chocolate!!!
Jan - Besides the Newman’s some of the Kashi cereals are pretty decent as well.
